MINI CHALLENGE SEASON STARTS TODAY
MINI Club Sport Cars revved up for Race One  

Euro Motors, the exclusive importer for BMW Group cars and motorcycles in Bahrain, kicks-off the MINI Challenge season today- the Middle East’s first, one make series of motor races- with the opening race of the championship. 

Race one, which will see the teams go head to head for the first time, officially marks the start of the MINI Challenge event. The MINI Cooper Club Sport cars, each sponsored by local companies, will battle it out in a xx lap sprint race in an effort to get their team off to a flying start for the season.

“The MINI Challenge will give aspiring Bahraini racing drivers a great opportunity to demonstrate their abilities in a safe and controlled environment while enjoying the thrills and excitement of competition racing,” said Zayed Al Zayani, Managing Director, Euro Motors.

“By presenting the opportunity for amateur racing talents to participate in this motor sports programme, Euro Motors aspires to demonstrate the importance of safe and responsible driving. Through the MINI Challenge, it hopes to eradicate unsafe illegal road racing,” said Al Zayani.

The races, being held in conjunction with the Bahrain Motor Federation, will feature 15 MINI Cooper Club Sport cars, with identical specifications and engine capacity. The teams are (in given numbers order) 1. Unstoppabulls, 2. Intercol, 3. Al Ayam Al Riadi, 4. Total Floor Solutions, 5. NoNoo Exchange, 6. Castrol, 7. AFI, 8. DHL, 9. GOYS, 10. BMF, 11. Allied Rent A Car, 12. Mohsin Arrayan, 13. Al Wardi Group, 14. Island Group, 15. Investcorp.

All the drivers participating in the MINI Challenge have taken part in three training sessions, under the watchful eyes of a certified professional BMW/MINI trainer. 

After today’s race the MINI challenge will break for the summer and start up again in September, with three more racing events in addition to the final race at the end of the season. The drivers’ skills and knowledge will be tested in various events including circuit races, sprints and other timed races.

Euro Motors commitment to the MINI Challenge extends the BMW importer’s involvement in sport in Bahrain.

“Euro Motors takes pride in promoting both MINI Challenge, the first event of its kind in the region, another first for Motor Sport in Bahrain, and in its support of local sportsmen. It is part of our on-going commitment to encourage and further promote the youth activities conducted within the Kingdom of Bahrain,” said Al Zayani.
