For each of the MINI Challenge races the MINI Cooper Club Sport cars are race prepared and made available in each team’s distinctive livery by Euro Motors here in Bahrain. All the cars are inspected and scrutinised before and after each race to ensure that they have not been modified.
Although all the drivers competing in the inaugural series already had varying degrees of motor racing experience, BMW provided participants with extensive professional driving training, both in the classroom and on the track. The training took place at the BMW Performance Centre, based at the Bahrain International Circuit. A number of opportunities to experience the MINI Cooper Club Sport and its capabilities were also provided prior to the launch of the Championship.
All the drivers participating in the MINI Challenge will take part in nine training sessions, under the watchful eyes of a certified professional BMW/MINI trainer. The instruction will include four racing events in addition to the final race at the end of the season. The drivers’ skills and knowledge will be tested in various events including hill climbs, sprints and other timed races.
